As fencers fence, their equipment breaks. It is not a matter of if, just a matter of time and that seems to be the way of the world. One open fencing session, my oldest son had three of his weapons “malfunction”. Hopefully when this happens to you or you child you have the skills and tools to solve/identify the problem yourselves or an armorer that can help.
Over the coming weeks/months I will cover some basic testers you can purchase, and how to use them. So if you don’t know, this will be a great opportunity to learn. If you see anything wrong, or have cleaner methods please comment, or send me a note so I can update these pages.
Additionally, through the help of the fine folks at r/fencing I will attempt to build my own armorers tester as well. Since the ethos among them is that like a Jedi must build their own light saber, every armor needs to build their own test kit.
